Voyage of the Raisonable from The Mauritius Command complete

July 19, 2007, 12:00 am

The voyage of Commodore Jack Aubrey in command of the aging HMS Raisonable is mapped. This map presented considerable and frequent dilemas, but I hope wherever possible I have stayed true to the cannon. For these maps around the islands, I had to rely on a fair amount of guesswork when choosing the course, but hopefully my guesses are at least plausible. As always, I would welcome any comments or suggestions.

The 6 finalists, chosen from hundreds of great Australian mashups, were all fantastic. The 6 sites deliver innovative and useful content to worldwide audiences. Some have commercial application, others are just great fun. Each mashup was displayed on a large screen, with attendees able to explore and interact with the site via a laptop."

Voyage of the Surprise from HMS Surprise complete

April 3, 2007, 12:00 am

The ultimately unsatisified errand to the East Indies and Jack's first voyage as captain of the HMS Surprise is now mapped. This voyage was a difficult one with a great deal of agonizing over the course of the ship from Rio round the cape, the path around Madagascar and the position of Venus and it's signficance for Testudo Aubreii (amongst others). As always, if you have any suggestions on these or any other points, please contact me.

Voyage of the Lively from HMS Surprise complete

February 26, 2007, 12:00 am

The voyage describing Jack's final days as temporary captain of the HMS Lively are now mapped in as much detail as could be gleaned. This includes the raid at Port Vendre and the landfall at Minorca to rendevous with Stephen. Most of the places referenced in the description of Stephen's rescue were fictional so they couldn't be included in the map. Would love to hear from you if there are any real locations I missed.

Voyage of the Lively from Post Captain complete

February 2, 2007, 12:00 am

The voyage describing Jack's temporary command of the HMS Lively up untill the capture of the Spanish treasure fleet is now mapped. There were lots of useful references in this part of the book so I think the locations for this voyage are mostly accurate.
